So, this card is my first submission for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. The current theme is Paper Piecing. When I first read that, I actually though it said Paper Piercing. So I spent a good hour looking up tutorials on Paper Piercing and trying to find cross-stitch patterns or something I could use as a template to sew a design on paper, before I realized what I needed was Paper Piecing.
As it turns out, Paper Piecing is similar to layering elements together and doesn’t actually require sewing at all. Just a tip for those of you who are reading challenged like me 😉
This Christmas card took a minute to put together as there were a lot of layers to piece together – but ultimately I’m exceedingly happy with the result.
I started out by doing some rudimentary ink blending on the card base. Then I embossed the card front, and die-cut the word sentiment Joy multiple times from various paper. Finally, I pieced all the elements together for the final card.
